20200501_121002Our members turned out and gave generously! On a beautiful first day of May in State College, our Chapter collected approximately 2000 pounds of food for those in need.  Half was donated to the State College Food Bank and the other half to the YMCA's Feed the Hungry Program.  In addition to the food donations, an envelope full of monetary donations was given to each organization.

These two groups could not have been more appreciative of our efforts!  The amount of people in need is so great right now that keeping up with demand for food has been challenging.  Upon delivery, the YMCA told us they had just completed a food distribution and were completely out of peanut butter, jelly, cereal, tuna and many of the other items our members donated.  The Food Bank was surprised to receive such a large donation now when many usual groups are not meeting to collect donations.

Many many thanks to all Chapter members and others who donated and a special shout out to the community from Liberty Hill that sent 6 carloads full of food!  We are also grateful to Deacon Dave from Our Lady of Victory Church for his help and support and letting us use their property as a drop-off location.

Thanks to Mike and Marti for your help with the heavy lifting today!
